Nappy Dreadlocks or Crappy Electrical Shocks?
It’s the later. This mess of cables was found when I was asked to remove a three way light switch which was no longer required. As I pulled the cables out of the plaster I found a bundle of black tape about 12 inches long. Inside the tape was even more cables taped up. Underneath that tape was a mess of cables that were crimped with the wrong sized crimps with no earth earth sleaving and loose crimps.
I’ve been seeing a pattern emerge during all the work that we end up repairing for people. The pattern is that it takes a lot more effort to get it wrong than it does to get it right. So why not just do it right in the first place?! The floor space above the lights switch in question had plenty of room to accommodate the lengthening of the cables using junction boxes yet the cowboy decided to spend more time and effort fiddling around with crimps, crimpers and black tape than just extending the easy and SAFE way.
Just another Shave Tail!
