DANGER OF THE WEEK AWARD

Bad Electrical and Building Works

We had completed work on this property a few months ago in another part of the house. We were called back to install a new boiler this time and while sorting out the old electrical feed we found a few issues. The one pictured is something we see often. When the installer cut the PVC sheath to strip back the cable they inadvertently cut through the inside insulators as well. You can see clearly here how the live (line) is showing through the red insulation.

We also discovered that the connection to the switched spur for the boiler was a spur from another spur which itself was a spur from another spur. We found a run of three spurs before the cable returned back to the ring main for the kitchen.
