Description: The owners of this flat were getting tired of stringing a battery charger through the open back door in order to charge their mobility scooter. The solution was to add an outside weather proof socket in the private parking area to allow for easy access and security of the property. The property is a new build and although only a couple of years old did not have any RCD protection built into the property.

Description: This gas fire had seen better days but was not really safe to use due to lack of maintenance. We spied the fire when we were on site to look after a boiler issue. As with all gas fires a yearly service is required to clean up the dust and debris that collects in or on the gas jets or opening that allow the gas to flow through to the coals. As seen here this fire had not been serviced for some time and the side panels had fallen out allowing the flames to burn the paint work off the side of the firebox. The fire was still being used.

Description: A flat owner with no hot water called looking for help as they were having problems finding someone who would work in the City Centre. We accepted and after arriving on site we concluded that the heating element in the stainless steel cylinder had gone bad. We booked an appointment to replace the element for the next morning however the flat owner cancelled the call. They had decided to try and get the work done under insurance. Unfortunately the insurance company sent a plumber around who wasn’t qualified to touch the electrics! When they called the insurance company back to complain they were told to find someone who could do the COMPLETE job. continue

Description: Another overpriced British Gas quote provided the fuel necessary for our new client to look elsewhere to have her boiler replaced. British Gas labeled the boiler as dangerous because it had an asbestos flue. The system worked perfectly well and although it was old it was working and was safe to use. For peace of mind however the client decided to change it as they wanted to remove all of the old tanks from the loft. It is a smallish property and we chose a high efficiency Viessmann 100 26kW to do the job. As we are Viessmann trained the client received an additional two year warranty on top of the standard three years giving her an incredible five year warranty (parts and labour) on the new boiler. The heat exchanger already comes with a ten year warranty! continue

We have worked in this property before and this time around were asked to remove the old balanced flue boiler which was consuming large amounts of natural gas and replace it with a more economical system. As the client already had a pumped shower being fed from an insulated cylinder in the loft we opted for a conventional boiler. We modified the gravity hot water, pumped central heating pipe work to a fully pumped S-Plan and added the required controls. We also corrected some major and minor electrical issues found along the way. continue

We were asked by a local daycare to remove a redundant childrens bathroom, remove three radiators and move two radiators to new locations. To make it interesting the original contractor had decided to install all radiator pipe work inside of dry lined walls with all joints hidden and no drain off points. We managed to remove everything with no leaks or surprises. The bathroom was drained down and systematically removed and all redundant feeds and waste pipes modified, safely capped off or removed. As the heating pipe work runs over the top of the building it is difficult to bleed the system and air gets trapped easily. Instead of coming out to bleed it on a regular basis we added bottle air vents to aid in the commissioning process and lengthen the time between visits. continue

Description: This job started out with a referral to look at an un-vented cylinder which had stopped working and had already been looked at by several people in an attempt to sort it out. Everytone that looked at it had a go but couldn’t sort it out. That wasn’t surprising as when we viewed it we knew it was wrong and we featured in our cowboy of the week award for poor wiring standards. continue
