Description: This bathroom renovation was part of a larger refurb…we practically rebuilt the entire house! Our client had purchased the property and had always planned on having all the work completed before she moved in. Although we’re only showing the bathroom here we also installed a new boiler, radiators and relocated the boiler from the kitchen to the upstairs airing cupboard, we completely gutted the kitchen and installed a new kitchen including all electrical work, we cleaned up the rest of the properties electrics and fit a new updated consumer unit, many walls and ceiling were repaired and re-plastered, the outside gutters and facia were repalced and the entire house was decorated and carpeted when complete. continue

We were on this site to re-install an electric shower about a month ago. See original article here. We installed the shower but were unable to sort out the electrics due to a issues we located with the previous consumer unit. While testing circuits we found some errors in the house wiring. To be specific the circuit feeding the sockets had been bodged by a bad kitchen fitting job. continue

Description: We started planning this bathroom for our client two years ago. By removing the old system boiler andd hot water cylinder from the airing cupboard in the bathroom and relocating the boiler from the kitchen to the loft we were able to expand the bathroom giving us enough room to install a seperate shower area. The owner also decided that she wanted a wet room instead of a shower stall so that’s what we built for her. continue

We were on site to re-install an electric shower which was removed a few years earlier. We found both ends of the T&E and it tested true. We had some difficulty running a new water feed and a new section of T&E. While at the consumer unit testing the existing shower cable we found some interestingly poor wiring to everything else in the property. continue

Another week, another unsafe situation! We came across this un-earthed light fixture while sorting out another issue at a rental property. The tenant asked us if we could provide a new globe to cover the light bulb. We didn’t have to think about the answer. NO! The fixture was not safe for a bathroom and certainly not when it was almost directly over the tub. continue

Description: We were originally asked if we could replace just the appliances in this bathroom and we said ‘of course we would.’ When we arrived to view the job it turned out that the home owner had already removed the bathtub and flooring and another builder had added some velux windows. The job was to relocate the tub from the left side of the room to the right side so that a mixer shower could be added. We would also add a shower screen, new basin, toilet, radiator and add a towel warmer, extractor, new lights and a razor point. With that in mind we went away while the home owner purchased the bits they liked.

The answer is plumbing junk!
When we were called to sort out a leaking shower unit the cause was a cheap tray as well as faulty installation methods.
The poor workmanship didn’t end with a cheap shower tray but continued with ill fitting doors and low grade plumbing fittings.
The entire shower was poorly installed at every level. continue
